Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame awards
Nov. 17, 2025. We were recently honoured with ‘legends’ awards for two of our earliest songs, Talk to Me of Mendocino written by Kate and Heart Like a Wheel by me. Rufus and Martha sang a very moving version of Mendocino, augmented by a string quartet. Then Sylvan and Lily joined them for an equally beautiful Heart Like a Wheel. Also that night, a complete surprise, the Montreal trio Le roy, la rose et le loup did Complainte pour Ste-Catherine, a song I wrote early on with Philippe Tatartcheff. It was really good. I hope they record it! There were sincere heart-warming compliments from Emmylou Harris, Judy Collins and Linda Ronstadt. It was a ‘perfect’ night.
