Feb 6th was Kate’s birthday.

Photo taken by Randy Saharuni in 1980 prior to release of French Record (aka Entre Lajeunesse et la sagesse.) At that point Excursion à Venise was the working title of the disk. Randy found a warehouse where they drydocked the old gondolas from Expo 67 and took some shots of the two of us sitting in one. They were a bit daft. This is an alternate.

Expo 67, fifty years ago!!! & coming up next of course ’68’. Where do the time fly. 😉 Didn’t know the Mountain City Four in those days but I seem to remember heading out to catch one of your gigs in early 70’s at some Highland games festivity. Can’t remember which one. (and I got there too late 🙁 )

I keep commemorating Kate’s birthday & passing away by indulging in an extended splurge of youtubing your videos on or about those days and leaving a reminder at times on some randomly chosen clip. Kate is never to be forgotten!

I am still upset at Kate’s passing away so it must be completely unbearable for her family. I, like Philip who commented above, sit and splurge videos when I think of The McGarrigles. I have all your music in my cd stacker and same on my phone for the car. Your music is just so wonderful and I never tire of listening and singing along. I am an Aussie and speak un petite per France so not sure what the words are, but hey it really doesn’t matter.

I do hope Anna, that you keep writing songs and recording them. I’m sure it would be difficult for you after all the years working with Kate, but your songs are just amazing. I did see you perform here in Melbourne once a very long time ago and am happy that I did, although I would have loved to see you again.

I am so grateful that you and Kate made the music you did,(and hopefully may do more) in my eyes the best music ever. Thank you, thank you.

Two stylish ladies! This would have made a wonderful front, or back cover album photo!

Dear McGarrigles, just finished reading the wonderful ‘Mountain City Girls’ and playing exquisite first album, the lyrics and music mean so much more after reading the background to so many of the songs and the going-ons at Garbagecourt Cottages. If I have one regret in life it is that I never got to a live concert.. c’est la vie
