Pete Seeger turned 90 somewhere near the 3rd of may which saw a huge turnout at madison square garden for the blessed event.

We first saw him when he was less than half that age! He made us want to make music and sing…which we did.
When we saw him at the garden, he was almost physically unchanged from when we heard him back in those dark ages somewhere in early sixties – tall, slim, dressed in a checkered shirt and blue jeans….the hair was white tho, and the voice that made him so famous was barely audible. But the sound in our memories was as clear as the Bells of Rhymney.
So as everyone danced on stage to We Shall Overcome, we pinched ourselves and remarked “who’d a’ thunk back in 196l that we’d be here today celebrating the 90th birthday of the undisputed master of all folk music…pete seeger”.

Thank you Pete.

Rather like when one looked at who was where on the Praesidium in Mockba on May Day,
The GCT™ Intel Dept. Figures that Ms. Baez & kate are still firmly in control of the ‘Folk Scene’.
One sees smiles on the faces of both Ms. Harris & Ms. MW.
We cannot discern whether these smiles are genuine or mask an imminent putsch.
We shall call Mr. Asch stat and find out chatter in NYC Bohemia.
I think it is fair to note that Trini Lopez is no longer a contender or pretender to the throne.

Great to see the new site up and running! But the big question – are you ladies working on anything musical at the minute? Would love to hear some of the songs that’ve fallen by the wayside over the years. More importantly though, hope you’re both well, and hopefully see you in the UK in December!
Best of luck and take care,

Have you ladies started planning your 90th birthday gig yet in the distant future? I was a mere lad when I saw you are Chorley Wakes … where have all the years gone? Love you all …
