As a songwriter, and performer, Kate touched my heart very deeply. I was shocked to know tonight, late, that she is not with us now. I’m so glad she had such a beautiful goodbye, with family that seemed to have made her aware she wsa a treasure. The McGarrigle sisters created music that stuck with me uncommonly. Love to all involved. I thank Kate.

I had a chance to meet and hear kate and anne a few yrs ago, and I fell in love with there music at that moment, I was so sad to hear of Kate’s passing, The world lost a great person and entertainer…

Now my question is, Does anyone know where i can get the video and song called \Dinks Song aka fare thee well. The version kate and anne and rufus and martha sang, by far the best version I ever heard. I hope someone can help me…Thanks!!!

Try listening to ‘Dancing in the Midnight Sun’ by April it sounds exactly like Complainte pour Ste-Catherine to me. You can listen to it on itunes – maybe they acknowledge true authorship on the sleeve notes- I hope so. Also interesting version of the same song by Kevin Roth on Dulcimer Man

I have many McGarrigle cover recordings that I’d be happy to electronically share – just say the word, along with the best way to do so (even if it’s just e-mailing an mp3 at a time). I’ll forgo an initial deluge of a list, but a couple such items of note: (1) a Greek-language version of “The Work Song,” and (2) 5 additional covers of “Heart Like A Wheel,” including the one by the group McKendree Spring. That version, from the album “McKendree Spring 3″ (and titled “Heart Is Like A Wheel”), came out in 1972 – at least here in the U.S. – possibly making it the 1st McGarrigle-connected recording of any kind to appear on record.

Didn’t know anyone had covered it.. Can you send me an mp3 please? Kate and I don’t own the master of our version of that song though we were supposed to share publishing with the producer. I’m sure we have the contract somewhere??. It was a work for hire but the ‘producer’ Doug Hutton’ has never accounted to us for either What God has Wrought’ aka Telephone song or the 2nd song ‘Les filles du roi’. We did after all write and record the songs, you’d think we’d be entitled to something. He rereleased the project called ‘In the Dawning’ a few yrs back with ‘a book & a cd’ but was selling it online directly. He never even sent us a copy. Ah the music business. I shall get right on this.
