I was at the show last night with my partner. Thank you so much, it was very beautiful and deeply moving. Like many in the audience, I loved the McGarrigles since your first album and the sound of the McGarrigles accompanied me through my last year at university and into life. The first cd I bought when I got round to that new technology was Dancer with Bruised Knees. My tears began last night when Rufus sang Southern Boys. Afterwards I met a pretty woman of a certain age dressed in a floral print and with mascara running through her tears she told me that she did her homework to the McGarrigles, fell in love with her husband to the sound of the McGarrigles and sang the McGarrigles herself to her babies, now grown up. We cried together as we remembered all our lost ones and times and Kate.

We felt we were part of your family for a moment as we shared your loss and we really appreciate you coming to London and bringing your wonderful music to us.

I was at the Meltdown concert last night - a fantastic evening of songs I am unfamiliar with. Does any one have the set list so that I can research? Similarly does anyone know if the show was recorded for future release?
Thanks

First Ever Duo Album From Award Winning Mother & Daughter!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Norma Waterson - "..possibly the finest English singer alive today" (Mojo Magazine) Eliza Carthy - 'Seriously impressive..'(The Telegraph)

Norma Waterson and Eliza Carthy are not simply two of the UK's finest exponents of traditional song. With their rich, distinctive and authentic voices, mother and daughter have effortlessly engaged new audiences and admirers across two generations. Norma and Eliza have 3 prestigious Mercury Prize nominations between them and have both been presented with BBC Folk Singer of the Year awards, as well as innumerable other accolades.

Although they have recorded independently and together on many occasions over the years, 'Gift' is Norma and Eliza's first duo release. The album also features a stellar supporting cast of friends and family, including Danny Thompson (double bass), Martin Simpson (banjo), Roger Williams (trombone), Marry Waterson (vocals) and Oliver Knight (who co-produced 'Gift' at his studio, Panda Sound, with his cousin, Eliza).
The 11 tracks on this dazzling new album include folk classics (Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Bunch of Thyme) as well as some jazz-infused or Old Timey gems (Ukulele Lady, Prairie Lullaby).

No matter what the origin, Norma Waterson & Eliza Carthy bring all these songs to life with their great musicality and wonderfully compassionate voices. 'Gift' is due for release by their long-standing label, Topic Records, in July 2010. A tour will follow in the Autumn.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Kate McGarrigle.
